Remark: IOA and the judging panel reserve the right to make final decision on all matters relating to the competition, including the right to interpret and amend the regulations, judging criteria, prizes and other arrangements of the competition without prior notice. |

Regulations
- Entrants are required to submit their entries by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. on or before 5 pm, 11 March 2019 (Monday) (all submissions are based on the time of IOA’s server, and late entries will not be accepted). The submission should include a photo with title, brief description and the information of shooting location, together with the entrant’s personal particulars (i.e. name, student ID, contact number and email). Please mark “Jockey Club Institute of Ageing Photo Competition” in the email subject. Photo entries should be submitted in JPEG format with a file size of at least 2MB. The organiser will send acknowledgement email to the entrants within 3 working days upon receipt of the submissions.
- Each entrant is allowed to submit a maximum of three entries.
- For personal particulars of the entrants and the description and file format of photo entries, if the organiser considers that the entrants are not eligible or the photo entries are incomplete, it has the right to request the entrants to provide supplementary information or disqualify the entrants from the competition.
- Entrants should be the originators of their entries and have sole ownership of the copyright and interests in the intellectual property rights (including all licensed materials).
- Entries should have never been entered in any other public competitions or used for exhibit, and have never received any awards or grants from other parties.
- For all the winning entries (including the shortlisted entries), authorisation shall be conferred upon the organiser to use the photos without geographical, frequency and time restrictions and without compensation, and an undertaking not to exercise the personal right of copyright against the aforesaid bodies shall be made.
- The organiser has the right of not presenting any awards if the entries received fail to meet the required standard. No explanation will be given in this regard.
- The decisions of the judging panel on the competition results shall be final.
- All winners must collect their prize within the redemption period stipulated by the organiser and present their student ID card for verification purpose. Winners failing to collect their prizes before the deadline shall be assumed to have forfeited their right to redeem the prizes.
- The organiser, upon consulting the judging panel, has the right to disqualify the winner(s) who is/are found to have committed substantiated acts of fraud or dishonesty.
- Entrants must abide by the laws of Hong Kong in the course of production.
- Entrants shall take full liability if the entries are involved in any infringement or unlawful acts.
- The organiser reserves the right to interpret and revise the regulations including the right to make final decisions on the results, awards and other arrangements without prior notice or any liabilities. In the event of any disputes arising from the competition, the organiser reserves the right to make final decisions.
- Entrants should carefully read the competition details and regulations. By submitting their entries, the entrants agree to be bound by the above terms and regulations of the competition. Entrants will be disqualified from the competition for any violation of the regulations.
Engagement @ CUHK
The CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing place great emphasis on engagement with the University and develop meaningful intergenerational activities between students and older people. To this end, the Institute actively brings in ageing perspectives and knowledge to the campus through various channels.
Promotion
- Conduct roadshow and exhibitions to promote various ageing topics such as age-friendly city and end-of-life care, as well as ageing products and services for Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge projects
- Organize camps for elders to experience and enjoy the scenery and cultural environment of the campus
- Engage over 100 students to promote age-friendly City issues through conducting district assessment and roadshows
- Organize a photo competition in CUHK campus to raise awareness of age-friendly city among students
- Through “Death Café” and human library activities at CUHK to encourage discussion of death and face the issues positively
Education and Training
- Share the work of ageing and practical knowledge on anti-ageing and fall prevention to CUHK staff through "Prosperous Life, Healthy Campus" Series of Seminars and Pre-retirement Workshop respectively
- Deliver talk importance of an age friendly communities to students from CUHK, mainland China, Japan, Korea and Singapore, in the Pan-Asian Student Forum
- Offer and guide students on ageing-related topics in the cross-university project on U-STEMist Scheme
- Educate students on elderly issues and partner students with elders to design and develop an asset map on Ma On Shan
- Students educated on end-of-life topics and partnered with elders to conduct workshops for older people to complete an Advance Care Planning booklet
Inspiration
- Inspire students to incorporate perspectives and experiences of older people in designing products and services under various start-up schemes such as U-STEMist Scheme, Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge and Social Service Project Scheme
- Students have in-depth understanding and reflection through making life story books with elders
- Inspire and attract students from different disciplines, e.g. public health, social work and urban studies, through knowledge transfer programmes, to understand and experience that the built environment poses a huge and direct impact on elders’ health and well-being, by pairing up with elders, to attend lectures, workshops and walking tours around Hong Kong
- Co-create with CUHK students, NAWA members to develop age-friendly routes through Your Age-Friendly CUMapMaking project

With a view to promoting inclusive learning environment at campus, “Show Me Around! CUHK” Photo Competition invited students to showcase the age-friendly side of CUHK campus through photos.

After assessment by the judging panel, the 1st prize, 2nd prize, 3rd prize, judge’s prize and the shortlisted entries were selected.

BACKGROUND
Development of age-friendly environments is one of the strategic objectives in WHO's Global Strategy and Action Plan on Ageing and Health. An initiative to achieve this is to support and create platforms for sharing the diverse voices of older people and improve awareness on the value of experience and knowledge from living and working with different generations, ages and socio-economic backgrounds.

OUR MISSION
The Institute has established the Network of Ageing Well for All (NAWA) to foster older people in building an age-friendly Hong Kong. Similar to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), it serves as a platform for older people from all strata to create social impact for betterment of the community so that their voice can be heard.
